I've found that the front case gets removed from the rear case, and all the transmission internals stay mounted to the rear case. I've removed: Input bearing retainer. Snap ring from input shaft. The real tranny number is not visible anywhere on the outside or on the inside of the gearbox. If you loosen either of the two bolts for the reverse gear shaft, you'll need to reapply sealant when reinstalling.
